"A slightly twisted and superbly talented chanteuse" - New York Times
I would like to introduce you all to my new band, Jesters of Jive! Jesters of Jive is a horn driven celebration of 1940's and Revival swing with hot vocals, killer brass, dancers, celebrity impersonators, toe tappin' grooves & a smokin' 8 piece band! Influenced by the jump and swing bands of the 1940's including Count Basie, Glen Miller, Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and The Dorsey Brothers. The Jesters of Jive also draw repertoire from the 1990's swing revival bands such as Cherry Poppin Daddies, Brian Setzer, Royal Crown Review and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The show incorporates professional jazz dancers to inspire and impress, and a Louis Armstrong mimic to create an experience right out of the 1940's golden age. This music helped a generation survive a great depression and it is sure to work its magic once again!
The CD was recorded live at the Metropolitan Room in NYC, with young lion
Tedd Firth on piano, Jay Leonhart on bass and Matt Wilson on drums. Quirky
jazz cat Bob Dorough appears as a special guest singing two of his own
compositions, and Leonhart sings one of his own as well. The disc showcases
the rare Maxwell/Myrow composition, "Twee, Tweet, Tweet," made famous by Cab
Calloway, and includes music by Fats Waller, Louis Jordan, Frank Loesser,
Randy Newman, Zoe Lewis, and Yip Harburg/Harold Arlen, among other composers
I consider Masters of Wit!
I started this video podcast, FunnyJazzChick.com on a lark and thought I might do a "few episodes just for fun" and it just kind of grew and spread like a virus. The idea was to show the lighter side of jazz. I filmed most of the episodes at the fabulous New York City jazz club Birdland. The production values are totally gorilla, I set the camera on the table and try not to walk out of frame. When I had 20 or so episodes and subscribers in 15 countries, I surveyed the subscribers and their favorites became the basis for my new release "In The Key Of Comedy" Now we have 45+ episodes and subscribers in over 60 countries. I love the idea that my goofy little performances are being seen places I'll probably never get to go to otherwise. Please visit and put your email in the "subscribe" box and you will be notified whenever a new episode is posted.
